Chris was born in Guernsey on the Channel Islands where he lived until 2003, serving as a Police Officer for eleven years. Paula was born in Bristol where she served with Avon & Somerset Constabulary for six years, and then had a short time on transfer with the Guernsey Police.
Both have been lifelong Salvationists and it was as a result of their work and faith that they met through the Blue Shield, which is a fellowship within The Salvation Army for Police Officers.
After they were married, they lived in Guernsey for seven years where they had their first child Ethan and in 2003, they moved to Camberwell in London where they spent two years at The Salvation Army’s William Booth College, training to be full-time ministers.
At the end of their time there in 2005, they had their second child Matthew who was born on the College premises! Two weeks later they moved to Herne Bay where they were appointed to the Salvation Army Community Church to oversee the church and a significant community initiative; The Bay Project.
Here they continue to lead the church and the project by being the sort of people that God created them to be. They’ve learnt that leadership is tough and requires a lot of confidence, not just in yourself, but also in other people and especially God!
The Bay Project is a legacy funded initiative, for The Salvation Army to serve young people and families of Herne Bay in practical ways and to find hope and fulfilment for their future.
